THE CURE: UK Post punk ..1978 … UK Gothic rock….80s
..
The Cure was formed in West Sussex by Robert Smith, Lol Tolhurst and three school friends in 1978. Beginning in the post-punk genre, they established themselves as the most influential band of the gothic rock scene, releasing 180 songs in 13 studio LPs and 35 singles between 1978 and 2008. The Cure rose to prominence with the single ‘A forest‘ (1980), first reached the Top10 with the song ‘The Lovecats‘ (1983) and achieved its peak of popularity with the LP album ‘Disintegration‘ (1989). Its musical style was highly influential around the world in the 80s and 90s and even many years later, as illustrated by the track ‘Biessensoŭnasć‘ (2018) of the Belarusian group Nürnberg.
