The Cure rose to prominence with the single ‘A forest‘ (1980), first reached the Top10 with the song ‘The Lovecats‘ (1983) and achieved its peak of popularity with the LP album ‘Disintegration‘ (1989). Its musical style was highly influential around the world in the 80s and 90s and even many years later, as illustrated by the track ‘Biessensoŭnasć‘ (2018) of the Belarusian group Nürnberg.
The cult post-punk act Siouxsie and the Banshees gets started in 1976 in London by Siouxsie Sioux and Steven Severin. The band publishes 140 songs in 11 studio LPs between 1978 and 1995, achieving mass popularity with its LP album ‘Juju’ (1981) and sparking impersonators everywhere, as illustrated in the song ‘Voces en la Jungla‘ (1983) by Spanish band Monaguillosh. Joy Division’s dark and low-spirited musical sound soon becomes emblematic of the early 80s goth-rock genre of the post punk movement. In 1980, the remaining three members create the group New Order, which reaches worldwide success from 1983 to 1993 with its refined and catchy techno new-wave rock.
The band ‘Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac‘ is formed in 1967 in London as a spin-off from the British blues-rock group ‘John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers’. After numerous line-up changes and 9 moderately successful LPs, Fleetwood Mac settles in California in 1975 and incorporates Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as new members. During the next five years, the band’s wonderful compositions and original pop rock achieve massive commercial breakthrough.
